Cape Gloucester Eco-Resort offers our guests a wonderland of places to explore and things to do.

Beach Walking
Beach walking is an activity that can occupy you for hours. Yours can be the first footprints on the kilometres of sandy beaches fringing beautiful Edgecumbe Bay. Alternatively, take a walk through acres of native bushland.

Birdwatching
Birdwatching can be as simple as sitting at the bar, as feathered friends frequently drop in. For the more avid birdwatcher, the grounds and beaches or our resort host many species of birdlife ranging from huge Sea Eagles, Brahminy Kites, Butcher Birds, Lorikeets. A field guide is available from reception.

Boating
Enjoy the outstanding water activities in the World Heritage Great Barrier Marine Park by bringing your own boat and use our private boat ramp to explore many islands in the vicinity including Gloucester Island National Park.

Boat Hire
We can arrange boat hire for reasonable rates through Dingo Beach Watersports so you can explore or fish on the water. There is the option of smaller dinghies that require no license and larger power boats that require a recreational boating license.

Fishing
The waters adjacent to the resort have yielded many a fish to the keen angler and amatuer. Fish from the beach, or launch your own boat. If you travel to the Gregory River at the Southern end of Edgecumbe Bay, it is reputed to be full of fish and mud crabs.

Fishing Charters
Join local fishing experts, Fish Dive, for a personalised fishing charter in the Edgecombe Bay / Cape Gloucester area. Join a group or book the boat for yourself.

Group sports
If you have the numbers, we have a cricket pitch and a beach volleyball court. Equipment is available upon request.

Kayaks
House guests may borrow a kayak. We have a single, two person and a glass bottomed kayak. Explore Passage Islet just 100 metres off the beach or go for a lazy paddle.

Picnicing
Head out along the beach in either direction to find a private place for a picnic, or watch the sun go down. Picnic packs are available from The Oar.

Snorkelling and Diving
Snorkelling and diving trips can be arranged, or head off with your own gear to explore around Passage Islet. The waters nearby are often shared with a wonderful array of tropical reef fish. Spectacular marine life including Turtles, Dugongs and Dolphins also inhabit the local waters year round.

Swimming
Enjoy our 25 metre salt water resort pool which is a great place to cool off year round. Most months of the year you can enjoy a dip from our sandy beach which easily drops into the ocean.

Whales
Whales frequent Edgecumbe Bay during the Winter months and sometimes can be observed just 100 metres from the shore.
